Hawks win a close one in Chicago. Thrashers have won three in a row? What?

Last night was a pretty good night for the city of Atlanta when it comes to the Hawks and the Thrashers. Eventually I want to talk about the Thrashers and how they have somehow put together a three game winning streak, but for now lets stick to the new and improved Atlanta Hawks.
There has been a lot to say about the Hawks since the playoffs last year against the Boston Celtics. I mean lets be honest, the Hawks did not have the record of a playoff team, but they received the chance to prove what they had and they did it. Sure, they didn't beat the Celtics, but they did take them to seven games and finally showed the city of Atlanta that they wanted to win. This enthusiasm has carried over to the 2008/2009 season and I'm loving it! The Hawks are currently sitting with a record of 25-16 and are 4th in the Eastern Conference. They are eight games back from the first place Orlando Magic, but there is still plenty of time left in the season to play catch up. The Hawks were able to try and keep up with the Magic last night as they went up against the 18-25 Chicago Bulls.
The Hawks went into the game last night against the Chicago Bulls with three key injuries which included Al Horford (knee bruise), Marvin Williams (concussion), and Acie Law (thigh contusion). Someone on the Hawks had to step it up because they were playing their second of back to back games and the team was tired from the night before with a tough win over the Toronto Raptors. Joe Johnson shows up and carries the Hawks to victory! No? You're right... it was actually Mike Bibby that showed up and put up 31 points to lead the Hawks to a victory over the Bulls in a late thriller. Mike Bibby wasn't the only person to have a big game as Josh Smith put up his second straight double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds. The Hawks are now on their way back home and will be able to rest until Friday when they host the Bucks on Friday night at the Phillips Arena. Keep it up guys!
Now back to the real surprise... the Thrashers have won three games in a row! What? No! Oh yes... they have! The Thrashers were able to defeat the Canadians (The fans are so obnoxious) last night with a final score of 4-2. Atlanta had goals from Christensen (4), Thorburn (5), Peverley (4), and Bogosian (2). Yeah... the Thrashers are 2nd to last in their conference with a record of 17-25-5 with 39 points... but at least they ae finaly going out there and putting a streak together. I went to a game around Christmas when they played the Bruins and it wasn't pretty at all. Sure, the Bruins are currently the hottest team in the NHL, but still it didn't look like the Thrashers wanted to win at all. So I want to know your opinion... does Kovalchuk want to be a Thrashers? Is he looking for a way out?
Well that's about all I have for todays post, but keep checking for updates about what the heck is going on around Atlanta with the big four sports teams! This was Scottie... Now I'm done.
